When you’re charged with a crime, the police will definitely want to speak to you about it, but I wouldn’t advise you to do so immediately. What the police want is to be able to open and close their case and a confession is how they do so. But your confession may very well be leverage, to help you get a better deal, or worse, your confession could be the very thing that sends you to jail or prison. Sometimes the reason they want that confession is because they don’t actually have any proof against you. So no, you shouldn’t do so before you talk to an attorney and decide which way to proceed.
